Cardiff City make the long trip North tomorrow to the KC Stadium to face Hull City.

The Tigers have started the season well and sit just outside the play-off places, Phil Brown has turned them into last year’s relegation flirters into a real force in the Championship. Hull go into the game with a great deal of confidence after a 4 game unbeaten streak including 3 consecutive wins and only one goal conceded.

Veteran striker Dean Windass is an influential player for The Tigers, currently top scorer with 7 league goals, however Nigeria star Jay Jay Okocha and Henrik Pederson add flair and dynamism to the side.

Home form has been impressive for Hull City so far this season, with 4 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats – and they are still a team progressing. Cardiff City’s last trip ended in a humiliating 4-1 thrashing at the KC, the memories of which will be still in our minds with Chris Gunter in particular having a difficult afternoon.

Cardiff City have been woefully underperforming this season, culminating in strong calls for the sacking of Dave Jones. Since the board backing, we have begun afresh and a win and a draw in the last two games (2 clean sheets) show some progress and reasons for cautious optimism.

The away form for The Bluebirds is not too bad but this will be a difficult fixture, and one they must strive not to lose. The Tigers will pose more attacking threat than the nervous Tractor Boys or toothless Foxes. We have a small amount of confidence and momentum behind us and a defeat would be extremely damaging.

Scoring goals has been a worry recently, with Hasselbaink mis-firing and Steve Thompson busy but lacking a cutting edge. Robbie Fowler is returned to action, and may feature in the matchday squad after work to loosen his hip.

I see this being a tight game, both teams have some good players but Cardiff can get a draw out of this. 1-1 but the first goal is hugely important !
