Heartbreak For Cardiff City As Birmingham Strike

Cardiff City were distraught tonight as Birmingham City claimed a late minute equaliser through Lee Bowyer just seconds after chants of ‘what a load of rubbish’ could be heard from the Blues fans.

The truth is that Cardiff City dominated the game and deserved the win. They outplayed, outfought and outclassed Birmingham City and should have been home and dry long before the 90th minute. The Blues did create some panic in the Bluebirds box but were largely contained. Cameron Jerome was the biggest threat but too often was offside as we nullified the threat of Brum’s wingers.

It was halfway through the second period when Joe Ledley struck a cracker from 20 yards to give us a deserved lead. McCormack was superb all game and was unlucky not to score himself.

However, it turned out to be bitter disappointment again for Cardiff City as with just seconds left – Lee Bowyer punced to save the Blues blushes and secure an unlikely point. One nil is never a save lead, and we have paid yet again for not making chances count earlier.

A point away at Birmingham City? Not half bad – but no Cardiff City official, fan or player can feel anything but bitter disappointment tonight.

.. you’ve said it : ‘we should have been home and dry long before the 90th minute’ – so why weren’t we? Because yet again, as in so many games this season, we simply haven’t converted many good chances into goals so please everyone in the team now spend hours and hours practising SHOOTING for goal!!

McPhailure strikes again. DJ shouldnt even put him on the bench after that. he got suubed late on and then while defending in the box headed the ball across goal……….square to Bowyer. unbeleivable. Doesnt deserve a squad number

3 stand out games have ended with a last minute goal. Reading, Blackpool and Brum. we’d have 51 points GD 14 with Brum on 51, reading on 53 and right in the mix. keep your heads boys!!!!!

Very true, although I dont think our defence is the problem, many of these games should have been decided and out of reach long before the last minute…
