Aron Gunnarsson was one of the Iceland heroes in the summer, he helped his nation knock England out of Euro 2016 and go onto the quarter-finals, with him since being linked with Derby and Norwich.

The possibility of an exit from Cardiff ahead of the transfer window last week had been reported but the rumoured interest from Championship rivals, which head coach Paul Trollope wasn’t welcoming anyway, didn’t come about thankfully from those two or others.

However no sooner has the summer transfer window closed is the midfielder already being mentioned in connection with a move away from the Cardiff City Stadium in the winter transfer window.

Wales Online us reporting an interest from German club Hamburg.

Trollope made it clear he’s aiming to retain the Iceland captain this season, we know he’ll be with Cardiff for at least half of the campaign and few will be keen on him leaving the Bluebirds in January for the Bundesliga or otherwise.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens really but nothing will happen for a few months anyway, we know that much.
