Cardiff City look to have staved off the strong interest from Premiership new boys Birmingham City in our talismanic centre-back Roger Johnson.

The Blues showed a strong interest in the former Wycombe man and submitted two formal offers to the Bluebirds for Johnson, widely tipped to captain Cardiff City next season. However, the terms were not right for us – and Peter Ridsdale fended off the interest.

Birmingham City described their £5m offer (mostly based on installments and bonuses) as ‘take it or leave it’ and appear true to their word by swooping to sign Coventry City captain Scott Dann.

If that ends Birmingham City’s interest in Roger Johnson – excellent. He is currently streets ahead in our ongoing poll to see which player Cardiff City fans would least like to see leave.
