Cardiff City defender Anthony Gerrard is poised to sign for Huddersfield Town according to news reports today with The Terriers having had a bid accepted by City and inviting Gerrard to attend a medical.

Leicester City were thought to be Gerrard’s likely destination with his former manager at Hull City, Nigel Pearson, now in charge of the Foxes. LCFC did increase their offer for the defender after an initial £200k bid was rejected but Huddersfield are reportedly close to announcing the deal.

Gerrard is surplus to requirements at City, having been left out of pre-season trips by Malky Mackay. He remains a solid and committed defender but his future certainly lies elsewhere.

Ironically, Huddersfield Town are the first visitors to CCS this season so Gerrard could line-up against us in just a few days time – I’m sure he will have a few choice words for his colleagues and probably fans too if that is the case….
