Cardiff City will be without central defender Anthony Gerrard for Sunday’s trip to Leeds United after the former Walsall man picked up an automatic 1 match ban for notching his fifth caution of the season in fouling Burnley’s Zavon Hines.

Gerrard had lost his place in the starting XI to new recruit Ben Turner, who partnered Mark Hudson at the heart of the Bluebirds defence in recent weeks. However, with Turner short on match practice, he was rested midweek allowing Gerrard to return.

City won the game, and recorded a very welcome clean sheet – nullifying Burnley’s threat and severely limiting their attempts on goal, despite the Clarets having plenty of possession.

Turner will certainly return at the back for the Bluebirds with Paul Quinn or Darcy Blake providing defensive cover from the bench. That will leave Dekel Keinan and Gabor Gyepes on the bench and out of favour.
