Willo Flood has been ruled out of Cardiff City’s televised encounter with QPR tonight due to a thigh injury.

Flood moved to Cardiff during the summer from Manchester City in a bid to get regular first team football but has so far been kept on the sidelines by the excellent early season form of Joe Ledley and Paul Parry. Fellow new signing Malvin Kamara was preferred to Flood to start against Leeds United earlier in the season but it was Flood who came on and ran the length of the pitch to score the winner.

Since then Flood has progressed above Kamara in the order for the right winger’s berth and replaced Parry after half an hour in the 1-0 win over Burnley. Flood showed good committment and some neat touvhes as he has done in each substitute appearance. Paul Parry’s dead leg now may rule him out of the clash with QPR but Flood has sustained an injury at the worst of times and will now need to wait longer for his first league Bluebirds start.

Flood was obviously disappointed with the timing of his injury and said:

‘I genuinely thought I had a chance of starting against QPR but I’ve been ruled out for two or three weeks. I’ve had a scan and my muscle is slightly torn, I have to rest and I won’t now be playing against QPR.’

Willo has shown excellent professionalism and still looks to have an exciting future at Cardiff City. He has kept his head down all season and not complained but will continue to get chances to prove himself as injuries and suspensions take their toll on an already thin squad.
