Darren Purse reacts to chants heard at the Keepmoat Stadium at the weekend and says he was delighted to be back in the starting line up.

“It was good to get back into the Cardiff side at the weekend. Glenn Loovens has gone and, with a bit of luck, I might get to start a few games now. I wasn’t 100 per cent fit because I didn’t play a great deal over pre-season. It was good to get a run-out. It was a decent result as well.

“Dave Jones took quite a bit of stick during the game. I was very surprised. We were 50-55 minutes into the game, we got a free kick and some fans started singing: ‘Jonesy sort it out.’ We all heard it.

“We were 0-0 away from home, at a tough place to go and our fans weren’t happy. It wasn’t our best performance but we ground out a draw and it was disappointing to hear that. The fans have got every right to voice their thoughts but 20 minutes later when we equalised and came away with a draw they were very happy.

“We set our benchmark by being in the FA Cup final last season and the fans expect big things. It just shows how far the football club has come over the last four or five years because our fans expect us to win every game now. We go on the field to win every game but it doesn’t always work out that way.
