Ex-Cardiff City Striker JFH Quits Football

Former Cardiff City striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who last season helped us reach the FA Cup final, has decided to quit professional football at the age of 36 having failed to find a new club.

Hasselbaink is locked in talks with Cardiff City with the veteran having believed he was entitled to a contract extension with the Bluebirds. He reported for pre-season training but was not part of the club;s plans and Cardiff City were under the impression the extension clause had been waived verbally.

Now Hasselbaink, having been courted by Norwich City, has decided he actually can’t keep up with the pace of Championship football and is expected to follow a coaching course where he will undoubtedly complain, shake his head and threaten any poor player who doesn’t pass to the precise spot he is standing.

All the best Jimmy…
