Cardiff City`s on-loan forward Eddie Johnson may be set to leave Bluebirds for a new start with Swedish club Malmo apparently showing and interest.

The striker is currently on loan from Fulham, and picking up a hefty wage from Cardiff City for little or no impact to date. He is yet to score, and rarely makes an appearance on the field save for injury time appearances when games are already decided. The USA International is desperately lacking in form and confidence and will surely be unsettled by the ironic cheers afforded to him on his rare first team appearances.

City fans do want Eddie to do well, and there have been very small glimpses of a good footballer, but these are sporadic and well hidden. With Chopra, McCormack, Bothroyd and Quincy all ahead of him – he is unlikely to get many more chances for City.

Malmo are in the market for a new striker, and Eddie`s agent has visited the club. A deal would surely be in the best interests of City, the player and Fulham – with Eddie getting vital playing time and exposure.

agree he has shown glimpses and appears to be a good target man winning many balls but has failed to gel with the team and it would be good for us if he moves saving money on wages which could support a new signing in the summer
