Eagle eyed Cardiff City fans would have been suprised, if not alarmed, to see the name of former loanee Kelvin Etuhu on the teamsheets from various news services (including the BBC) for last nights 1-1 draw with Reading.

The pacy attacker was at Cardiff City last season, on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City. He was a huge disappointment and barely made an impact – culminating in a poor showing during the Wembley play-off final after replacing the injured Bothroyd. Etuhu suffered some bad luck with injuries, but his stay was a huge disappointment for the Bluebirds.

Even with Dave Jones’ fondness for re-signing his former players (Heaton, Naylor, Olofinjana, Gyepes, Koumas, Cooper, Oakes etc etc etc) – it seemed highly unlikely we would go for Etuhu, we alrady have the squad maximum of 5 loan players anyhow.

Soccerbase.com lists him as having signed for Cardiff City on Monday – but there has been no word from either club.

In fact, the number 17 named on the bench was Andy Keogh, A player also on loan and yet to show his worth with doubts over the best place to play him – like Etuhu he has proved he is not like-for-like back-up to Bothroyd.

Cardiff City have not re-signed Kelvin Etuhu.

Both season long loans meant to make a difference – at least Keogh has scored but he doesn’t look like forcing his way into the starting XI
