It seems that Dave Jones may be about to break the habit of his CCFC tenure by ringing the changes after a loss in form and back-to-back defeats.

Cardiff City were lacklustre and laboured in the 2-1 defeat to Norwich City. They deserved a point, but would have been disappointed by the performance as they failed to find the creative spark that has typified the revival since before Christmas.

Now, Dave Jones is hinting that he may, finally, be ready to ring changes as he prepares for tonight’s visit to managerless Coventry City. Jones told the Western Mail:

‘We can only change so many, but it might be that one or two players need a break to keep fresh for the next game.’

‘If I think that is the right thing to do that is what I will do. I am not frightened to change things around. If there are changes to be made I will do it.’

‘But I am looking at different things. I have been thinking about it over the weekend, what we can do differently.’

The indication seems clear however that none of the ‘key’ players will be rested and that Stephen McPhail will keep his place while the exciting Aaron Ramsey continues to warm the bench.

Steve Thompson is highly likely to start instead of Hasselbaink, with Jimmy rested after playing on Saturday. The only other change could be Peter Enckelman making his first start in goals.

Trevor Sinclair and Riccy Scimeca are nearing returns but neither are match fit. Jones is reluctant to use Darcy Blake or Aaron Ramsey due to their inexperience – meaning that the inclusion of Darren Purse is the only other option!.

I’m sure the changes will not be striking fear into other Championship sides and it will be up to the same group of players to turn the form around.
