Cardiff City fans will hold a signified and silent protest ahead of tonight’s big game between the Bluebirds and West Bromwich Albion with 1300 Cardiff City fans making the trip.
With a strong away following such as ours, and WBA being a former Premiership side and one of the more attractive Championship clubs to visit – this would always be a big game. Add to that the close proximity of Birmingham and the fact that both clubs harbour credible promotion aspirations and suddenly the game becomes even bigger.
However, a frosty relationship exists between Cardiff City fans and the West Midlands Police, and especially WBA FC, the Bluebirds ticket allocation was slashed in half. Whilst other clubs receive 2600 tickets for the away end, we have been given 1300 amid popular demand and sparking the planned protest.
Despite the best efforts of the Cardiff City supporters club, these problems continue to plague our genuine fans – who are in fact amongst the most loyal and passionate in the country. Before any idiots spout the usual nonsense about us – we continue to pay for an albeit tainted behavoural history, and history it is.
Cardiff City fans were pinpointed for trouble at Wolverhampton Wanderers in recent years. This was a completely avoidable incident which angered fans, and the naivety and attitude of the West Midlands police has been disappointing at best in recent times – many other adjectives would fit better. Even they were tentatively supportive of giving us the full allocation, WBA refused and would not be drawn into any negotiations.
The point is this. Cardiff City fans have a reputation, and that is undeserved by the 99% of supporters I’ve ever seen on away trips. It’s those passionate, loyal fans who travel today in their hoards to see an out-of-form, patched up and injury hit side take on promotion favourites in what is sure to be a bitterly cold and wet Birmingham. Any idiots who want to disrupt the protest need to think about the whole point of it, and the phenomenal work done behind the scenes by the CCFC supporters club. Peter Ridsdale and the club have been behind us all the way on this one, and if we are to change the attitudes towards us – these events muct hit home.

How can you say Its in the history and its History?
You came to the Liberty just a couple of weeks ago and wrecked the away end making other teams supporters to do with a patch up until the repair work can be done properly.
If i had my way, no more than 100 tickets would ever be allocated to cardiff City fans and then they would have to provide so much security to travel away they would definately think twice about anything untowards.
No other club has come to our ground (even Leeds Utd) with 4000+ fans in the away end has caused us any damage to our facilities.

I take your point cornelly jak, but you really should be able to see there’s a minority, and what happened at Liberty was a pretty specific situation (no excuses though). I haven’t seen trouble at a single away game since Wolves 2 or 3 years ago, including at your place. These aren’t fans,
Its always the minority that spoil for the majority, although Cardiff seems to have done nothing to sort out thier own fans, yup Liberty was wrecked 2 years running, the coin throw incident, well you banned the wrong guy so there is still that to sort. Not forgetting all the other clubs who hate having Cardiff visit due to the abuse and the state of the aftermath. Maybe when you refer to the history, you should make mention EVERY other incident you have had with your fans in the last 2 seasons, then it will become blatantly clear that Cardiff simply can not control thier own fans – or at least the minority.
