Dave Jones in Crystal Palace link

Dave Jones is the first choice of Crystal Palace supremo Simon Jordan to succeed Iain Dowie at Crystal Palace. Dowie left the London club after failing to return them to the premiership following their play-off defeat to Watford. Jordan is known to admire Dave Jones and is looking for an experienced an ambitious manager to lead the clubs promotion chase next season.

Dave Jones has been linked with numerous manager roles including Hearts and more recently Derby and whilst he has maintained that him family is well settled in Cardiff he has remained frustrated with the inadequate training facilities and the lack of progress on the staium project.

The Crystal Palace job is sure to tempt Jones with their far more modern stadium and set-up as well as a much larger spending budget. Sam Hammamm and Peter Ridsdale have acknowleged Jones’ contribution to the Cardiff cause and will be trying to persuade him and commit to the Cardiff dream. Jones has been offered a 2 year extension to his current contract and is likely to sign despite the Palace interest.

One player who Dave Jones would not have available to him at Palace would be England striker Andy Johnson who has handed in a transfer request with a host of Premiership clubs apparently willing to meet the £8million price tag.
