Cardiff City have offered a suprise new contract of out-of-favour Guadeloupian defenderMiguel Comminges as he looks to recover from a season-ending injury.

Comminges made just one league appearance this season for Cardiff City, despite our small squad and injury problems over the course of the campaign. That came back in August 2009 when Comminges replaced hat-trick hero Michael Chopra with just seconds remaining, he coveredd at left-back after Capaldi was sent off but has not featured since for the Bluebirds.

The contract offer is for 6 months, suggesting that Comminges is not a part of Jones’ long term plans. He is not a big wage earner at the club, and it seems likely Cardiff City are allowing him the chance to re-build and gain fitness before trying to find another club.

Comminges arrived 3 seasons ago on a free transfer from Swindon Town but has failed to establish himself in the side. However, versatility is a strong advantage he has and he is able to operate on either flank in defence or attack while he has also played at centre-half for the Blubeirds reserves.

Most expect Comminges to move on over the summer, if he can build up fitness – that still appears to be the most likely outcome though he may yet have a chance to prove his worth during pre-season for the 2010/11 season.

agreed Magennis has more chance of affecting our future, but I’m told Comminges is on a very low wage but will use CCFC to get fit, train and look for a new club. Not going to cost us much, and help a decent pro – but can we afford it?!?!
