City chase Premiership trio

Dave Jones has held preliminary talks with the three Premiership players about moving to Cardiff. Geoff Horsefield the 32 year old much-travelled striker is seen as back-up to Steve Thompson with Glombard and Ferretti ready to challenge for Chopra`s place. The striker was left out of the Sheffield United touring party in their pre-season and is seeking a new club, Barnsley and two other Championship clubs have also made contact with Horsefield. However Sheffield United will demand a fee for the player, thought to be close to £400k.

Dave Jones has also identified a weakness in the squad as a lack of width and is targeting Reading`s Glen Little as the man to add the spark on City`s right flank. Little played a huge part in Reading`s stroll to the Championship last season and is a direct and attacking player. At over 6ft Little does not seem particularly quick but often beats his man and delivers good crosses, something which would suit Steve Thompson.

Another midfielder being courted by Jones is Man Utd youngster Chris Eagles who spent last season on loan at Watford making 16 appearances in the Championship and scoring 3 goals including one beautifully placed chip from his own half. It is unclear as yet whether Man Utd are looking to loan or sell the midfielder but he is apparently interested in joining Cardiff City.

The Jason Koumas sage continues with Hammam desperately searching for additional funds to pay West Brom. Bryan Robson has threatened to ‘let Koumas rot` in the reserves as the wantaway star still hasn`t turned up for training ans has been fined every day since WBA training began.
