Non-league minnows have succeeded in ensuring their 3rd round FA Cup tie against Cardiff City can be held at their tiny home ground.
The Scholars’ Ground, Chasetown was the venue for their previous victory, an impressive win over League 1 side Port Vale, now they bring a bigger club to the ground and hoe for more of the same.
There were doubts over the ground’s capability to hod such a high profile tie, but credit to both clubs and the police for agreeing safety precautions and allowing real football fans to benefit. There was never any doubt that Chasetown wanted to host the game and that is now possible after all parties agreed. The Bluebirds will bring their own contigent of stewards to help with the safety aspects.
Cardiff City have been allocated 600 tickets for the tie, whilst the overall capacity is set at 2030. The game will be played on Saturday January 5, kicking off at 1pm.
