Cardiff City’s misfiring striker Steve Thompson has been transfer-listed by manager Dave Jones and looks set to leave the club during the summer.

Thompson scored just 6 goals over the season but was praised for his attitude and work-rate. He came in for inevitable criticism and failed to improve his goal-scoring record despite playing the majority of matches this season.

The fact was that there was no adequate replacement.

Dave Jones is very loyal to players on the whole, but appears to have lost patience with Thompson whom he brought to the club for £100k last season fro Glasgow Rangers.

It is known that Dave Jones is seeking another striker to partner Michael Chopra up-front, one who is capable of scoring 12-15 goals a season.

  • Steven Thompson’s magic! He wears a magic hat ! (doesnt do him much good tho 🙁 )

  • interesting … what sort of striker is he ?? big man up front or more of a workman like person who sets up more than he scores ?

  • Both ! he works so hard and hold the ball up well but for a big man doesnt score enough. Some good flick-ons and has good feet but doesnt hurt teams too often

  • Thommo should stay – he’s good for the bench and an intelligent player. If he goes for under £100k its a traversty!
