Cardiff’s Parry ‘ Going Nowhere’

Cardiff City’s flying winger Paul Aprry is not expecting interest from rival Championship sides to materialise into a move away from Ninian Park.

Parry is one of the lngest-serving players at the club and he and Joe Ledley are the only surviving players from before the Dave Jones era. He was brought in from Hereford United by Lennie Lawrence for a bargain £75k.

This season and last, Parry has developed his game and improved drastically. He has always offered genuine pace and width but he now looks more potent than ever and is able to operate on the left or right of midfield while he has also impressed in an auxiliary strikers role of late. His pace, and ability to beat his man makes him a good winger at this level but he has also developed a great shooting technique and scored some excellent goals. He is especially dangerous cutting in from the right and unleashing left-footed drives, but he also showed composure to slot between Paddy Kenny’s legs for a 1-0 win over Sheffield United pre-Christmas.

Those qualities have alerted other clubs to Parry’s talents, but Ipswich Town and Norwich City are no bigger than Cardiff City and the Welsh International winger sees no reason to move:

“I`m not going anywhere, I`m happy with my form at City and enjoy living here, so there is no reason for me to go anywhere else.” he told the South Wales Echo.

Hopefully Cardiff’s resolve is strong enough to hold onto a proven and experienced player, who would be extremely difficult to replace. His pace and versatility are crucial to Cardiff City, with no other attacking player matching his speed or acceleration. With another year to go on his contract, Parry would command a fee but unless upwards of £1.5m, Cardiff should be hanging onto Parry.
