Former Leeds United and Barnsley midfielder Stephen McPhail has signed a contract extension with current club Cardiff City which will see the Irishman contracted to the club until 2011.

McPhail was an important part of Cardiff’s team last season and when he played well, the team usually played well. Some confidence issues affected his sharp passing game but he remained a key player.

Cardiff City turned down a bid for McPhail over the summer, and then set about tying his future to the Bluebirds. McPhail has now extended his deal by an extra 2 years and was happy to commit himself to Cardiff City:

I`m settled in South Wales and I love playing for Cardiff City,” he told the SW Echo.
