Cardiff’s Kennedy To Return Against Old Club

Cardiff City winger/full-back Mark Kennedy has returned to full training following the calf injury that has kept him out of the side for several weeks.

Kennedy’s return has come at a good time for the Bluebirds as Miguel Comminges will have to sit out a 1 match ban following his dismissal at QPR. Kennedy will slot straight in at left-back when his former club Crystal Palace are the visitors to Ninian Park on Saturday.

Kennedy was released by the Eagles last year, but has proved his doubters wrong following his free transfer move to Cardiff City. I was disappointed by his signing but he has done extremely well in an unfamiliar position. While he has certainly curtailed his attacking instincts in favour of a more conservative and defensive role: he has looked solid and made very few mistakes as well as adding a maturity and calmness to the team.

If Kennedy does not achieve match fitness in time, Jones will either switch Joe Ledley to left-back with Whittingham in midfield or move McNaughton to the left with Darcy Blake on the right. The inclusion of academy member Adam Matthews is a long shot but the youngster is highly rated and has travelled with the first team squad.
