Cardiff City’s new boy Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink scored a brace in a specially arranged friendly against Hereford United yesterday.

Cardiff raced into a 3-0 lead in the behind-closed-doors friendly, after Jason Byrne and Hasselbaink (2) put a strong Bluebirds squad into a strong position.

Hereford pulled two goals back, as we tired but Jason Byrne added another late goal to make the game safe.

A good runaround for our players, and promising signs from our new striker Hasselbaink – who could now go straight into the matchday squad to face Coventry City, and Jason Byrne the out-of-favour Irishman who also bagged two goals and looked sharp.
