Cardiff’s Capaldi Targetted

Cardiff City’s Northern Irish full-back Tony Capaldi was subjected to a torrent of abuse from the Home Park crowd as he made his return to former club Plymouth Argyle at the weekend.


Capaldi’s every touch was roundly booed by the home supporters, unhappy that Capaldi chose to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer. Despite being offered a new Pilgrims contract, Capaldi decided it was time to move on, and eventually signed for Cardiff City – their first capture of the season.


Capaldi was slightly shocked by the level of abuse his return generated after serving Plymouth well in his time there. He is now ready to look past the game and concentrate on lifting the Bluebirds up the table:


‘I didn’t realise that my reception would be as bad as it was. I have come through this, but it was my worst performance for Cardiff so far. Now I am so glad to have got this behind me so I can look to the future.’


Argyle boss Ian Holloway and influential midfielder David Norris have both criticised the boo-boys for their treatment of Capaldi.


Tony has started every league game for City this season, and is almost certain to resume the left-back position when Cardiff host Watford FC tomorrow evening.
