Cardiff City’s Scottish goalkeeper is out of contract and leaving Ninian Park in the very near future. The player wanted to stay and featured regularly this season but could not agree terms on a new contract.

Currently the Bluebirds’ longest serving player – Alexander paid tribute to the fans who have supported him so well:

‘I’ve had six fantastic years with Cardiff City and I’ve been fortunate to be able to work with George Wood and now Martyn Margetson as goalkeeping coaches,’

‘I have had so many messages, letters and cards from Cardiff City fans it’s been incredible. I want to thank everybody who has supported me over the last six years.’

‘I’ve had a fantastic time and I will always have great memories of Cardiff City.’

Alexander made 234 appearances for Cardiff City and is attracting strong interest from Championship clubs Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday.

He produced his best football for Cardiff this season, and at 29, is coming into the peak age for a goalkeeper.

Best of luck Neil, and thanks.
