Cardiff City will leave it late before deciding on their line-up as midfielder Stephen McPhail is given a late fitness test over his ankle injury. The Irishman hurt his ankle against Coventry but managed 60 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday before being withdrawn. However, it appears McPhail aggrevated the injury during training and must wait for the all clear.

Joe Ledley is still out with a hamstring tear so teenager Aaron Ramsey will continue in midfield. If McPhail does miss out, either Trevor Sinclair will start on the right – or Paul Parry will drop back allowing Steve Thompson to partner Hasselbaink in a powerful attack.

Riccy Scimeca and Warren Feeney are back in training but was short of match sharpness while Robbie Fowler remains sidelined after hip surgery.

Leicester City will be without first choice goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, out for three weeks with a thigh injury sustained in training.

The Foxes’ strengthened their midfield with the loan acquisition of Lee Hendrie who will play some part but defender Gareth McCauley is suspended and misses out.

Matty Fryatt has returned from injury and came through a reserve game unscathed, he will hope for a place on the Leicester bench.
