Cardiff City have been drawn against Welshpool in the FAW quarter-finals.

In recent years, we have been knocked out by the likes of Carmarthen Town and TNS, however – this year we have more squad depth and with the likes of Robbie Fowler, Peter Whittingham, Trevor Sinclair and Steve MacLean currently out of favour – and the emergence of Darcy Blake, Aaron Ramsey and co. A Cardiff City reserve side should be strong enough to overcome all but Swansea City in the competition.

However, complacency has cost us before and whilst the competition is by no means a priority – we ought to take it seriously.

Newport County v Swansea City

he draw means that Cardiff City will be at home in the next round and will play either Newport County, or, more likely Swansea City. The Jacks are doing well in Leeague 1 at present and it seems likely that we will meet our close rivals in the semi-final stage.

Don’t forget, this month sees a fantastic competition on Vital Football offering 3 chances to win a Nintendo Wii. If already a member, make sure you post 20 times on an article or in the Vital Cardiff forum. All new sign-ups also go into a separate draw. Sign up here!
