Cardiff to Sign Loan Striker ?

Cardiff City have approached Luton Town’s board about bringing Irish striker Warren Feeney to Ninian Park on loan.

The loan must be completed by this Thursday’s deadline for Emergency Loans. Feeney is out of contract at the end of the season and will be able to leave for nothing, however the Luton board are refusing to let the player leave this fight for Championship survival and are attempting to cash in on the player by means of a loan fee.

One figure suggested is in the region of £150k but that seems over the top for a striker who has scored just 2 league goals all season and a fee of half that sum would be seen as more realistic by Dave Jones and Peter Ridsdale.

Feeney, 26, is a useful player and Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale revealed recently that the Bluebirds wer monitoring his situation with regards to a summer move for the player. It seems the Bluebirds have stepped up their interest in response to the revelation that top scorer Michael Chopra will miss a month of the clubs season and realistically 5 of the remaining 8 games. Chopra has been vital and the team has struggled without him to date.

Whether Cardiff will be forced into the deal and held to ransom by the Luton board remains to be seen but Luton would be well advised to take any price for a player able to leave for nothing in 8 games time.
