With the recently reported trial of Hungarian U21 international defender Bela Belogh in Cardiff, a deal is being discussed to bring several more Hungarian youngsters from MTK Hungaria to Cardiff City for trial periods.

Cardiff have close links with the club and Belogh was recommended to Jones a while ago by one of his European scouts. The other youngsters hoping to make an impact in British football are teammates of Belogh’s and have all represented Hungary at U17 level.

The move is a positive step for the future and could help City farm some young European talent and build importnat links abroad. Another scheme is underway with Cardiff City making contact with Chinese club Xiamen, and Cardiff should travel to China later this year as part of their pre-season training.

Cardiff City’s academy manager Lee Robinson said of the MTK Hungaria deal:

‘MTK are a club of a similar status to Cardiff City and we are establishing links with them. We’re bringing a number of their players to Cardiff and that will build on the relationship we already have.’
