Cardiff City have been widely linked in recent weeks with a move for highly-rated Hartlepool United goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos. The ‘Pool club have now revealed that the Greek stopper has rejected their offer of a contract and is almost certain to leave on a free transfer next month.

Despite the known interest from Cardiff City, Chairman Peter Ridsdale has hinted at the acquisition of a Premiership goalkeeper to replace the outgoing Neil Alexander.

Whether Konstantopoulos is to become a Cardiff City player, we will have to wait and see but there is stiff competition for the goalkeeper. Hartlepool remain determined to keep him, and there has been strong interest from Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday due to the player’s good form and lack of transfer fee.
