Cardiff Striker Returns To Training

Cardiff City striker Warren Feeney has returned to training with the Bluebirds squad after suffering a nasty ankle injury whilst on loan with Swansea City shortly before Christmas.


Feeney was forced to return after the injury which also put paid to a permanent switch for the League One runaway leaders. Feeney had impressed with the Swans and enjoyed a decent scoring record, 5 goals in 10 appearances.



Now Feeney has made a welcome return to training with the Bluebirds. Although it seemed his CCFC career was over before the injury – it must come as a small boost to Dave Jones to have an experienced striker available for selection with only Hasselbaink and Thompson as out-and-out strikers in the first team squad. Feeney is more mobile than either but has struggled for a cutting edge and scoring touch since joining from Luton Town.


Feeney told the Belfast Telegraph:



‘It has been a long, hard road for me, I have trained with the rest of the first team this week and everything has been fine with my ankle.’

‘Hopefully I can play some part in a reserve game next week and then we’ll take things from there.’




However the Northern Ireland International warned he was not expecting to be in first team action in the immediate future:



‘I think the FA Cup match against Middlesbrough next weekend is much too early for me.’




Hopefully Warren can come back a different player, enjoying more confidence and a scoring touch. He can offer something different in attack although many Cardiff fans have yet to see him impress at Championship level.
