Cardiff City’s relatively new striker Jason Byrne may find himself looking for a new club in the summer.

The former Eircom player joined Cardiff City in January, and scored the winner against Wolves on his debut. Since then, Byrne has struggling to forge a parnership with other City strikers and has now picked up an injury to end his season early.

The striker picked up ligament damage in his leg whilst running during training and is now on crutches.

Although Cardiff paid £75k for Byrne, and he has barely played – he could still find himself leaving Ninian Park after boss Dave Jones revealed his plans to re-build the squad from a nucleus of 12 players.

Although prolific in Ireland, the step-up has been difficult for the player who was also short of match fitness after finishing his Irish season a month before joining Cardiff City.

Byrne however has vowed to come back stronger than ever and prove to the manager and fans that he can be a major driving force in next year’s new-look squad.

‘I’ll have to get my head down and hopefully give the manager something to think about.’

‘I’d like to think I can show the fans as well what I’m capable of because I don’t believe they’ve seen that yet.’
