Cardiff City forward Michael Chopra has today been listed in the top 20 non-Premiership players by The Independent newspaper.

Chopra came in in 11th place and was valued by the report at £2.5 million, a big leap in value after Cardiff fought off competition to land the striker for £500k paid in compensation to Newcastle United in the summer of 2006.

The diminutive frontman has scored 12 league goals this season, most coming at the beginning of the season when Chopra raced to the top of the Championship goalscoring chat. Since then, the goals have dried up somewhat for Chopra in a spell coinciding with Cardiff’s run of poor form but he has remained lively and is creating chances for himself.

Ex-Cardiff City players Robert Earnshaw and Jason Koumas came in at 7th and 8th respectively while fellow Welshman Gareth Bale was listed the second best player outside the Premiership.
