Cardiff City skipper Darren Purse has reveraled his hurt and frustration on again missing out on his return to first team action.

After suffering a slipped disc in his back in January, Purse has been out of contention. After intensive physio treatment, he returned to training and has played 2 hours of reserve team games thus far. Having recovered from the back injury, Purse has now picked up a calf strain to extend his injury hell.

Purse’s injury has come at a bad time for the Bluebirds as fellow centre-half Glenn Loovens has been ruled out for the rest of the season after fracturing a bone in his foot. That leaves only Roger Johnson recognised in that position so Kevin McNaughton will again be asked to cover.

Although gutted not to be taking part and leading his side on the pitch, captain Darren Purse will be on the terraces at Ninian Park cheering the boys on with the passionate Cardiff City support:

‘I’ll be cheering them on and I hope the ground is packed with Cardiff supporters.’

‘I’d much rather sit with the fans than with the prawn sandwich brigade.’
