After an up-and-down season, Cardiff City finished comfortably mid-table. A scintillating start was followed by a dismal end and the same players looked half as effective as previously.

VitalCardiff brings you an end of season review of each player. If you disagree then feel free to leave a comment at the foot of this article or e-mail Vital Bluebirds with an alternative review!!

The reviews will be published every weekday between 10-11am:

14 – WILLO FLOOD

Willo Flood was signed from Manchester City shortly before the season started and his former manager Stuart Pearce instantly had doubts over his decision. Flood is a right sided midfielder who can also do a job in the middle, but he began the season on the bench with Paul Parry on the right.

Flood appeared in the opening three games of the season but was surprisingly overlooked in favour of Malvin Kamara on the right wing for the trip to Leeds United when Kerrea Gilbert was unavailable. The game was a good one for Flood however and provided the highlight of his Cardiff City career to date: Flood ran the length on the field playing a delightful one-two with Chopra and scored to win the game in the last few minutes.

Despite showing great determination and good feet in his substitute appearances, Flood was unable to gain a starting place and was cruelly injured as his chance came along. He has great energy and a directness on the flank but suffered for not finding a clear role in the side.

Willo started just 5 league games for the Bluebirds, with the majority (20) of his appearances coming from the substitutes bench. He has shown glimpses of potential but needs regular first team action to develop his talent. As such, Flood has joined Dundee United for next season on loan.

There is more to come from Flood after a frustrating first season for the player.

He’ll be back next season – and can do a good job for us.

Certainly a frustrating season for Flood! Hopefully he’ll gain confidence from his stint north of the border!
