Cardiff City director Steve Borley was today in the Chinese City of Xiamen, also twinned with the Welsh capital. Borley is hoping to re-enforce links between the cities but also the two football clubs allowing Cardiff a lucrative hold over the massive and fast-growing Chinese market.

Borley told the Cardiff City Official Website:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to significantly enhance the brand of Cardiff, both the club and the city, in one of the world`s most exciting markets. Our intentions are very much long term and we hope to play our part in enhancing the standard of football in Fujian and Xiamen in particular.”

The move is expected to result in the Bluebirds travelling to China for next years pre-season tour and may also include a on-off game at the end of the current season in front of the new stadium in Xiamen with a 30000 capacity.

The deal is being overseen by ‘Lynx Group International, the team behing Everton`s recent affiliations with the Chinese market resulting in large sponsorship inverstment by Chang Beer. The team also represent Bolton Wanderers and Hull City while Steve Bellis the director id a former commercial director of Stockport County and has vast experience in British Football, the Asian market and linking the two.

The links between the clubs has been dormant recently but the visit is expected to increase co-operation between the Bluebirds and the ‘Blue Lions`.
