Vital Cardiff City reported earlier this week that young defender / midfielder Joe Ledley had opened talks with the club over a new deal. The South Wales Echo is today reporting that The Bluebirds have also turned down a big money bid for the player.

Ledley is a homegrown talent, and has come through the ranks at Cardiff to be a fixture in the side over the past three seasons. In that time he has prospered and gained International regognition also.

A bid came in for Joe Ledley from an un-named Championship side, the money in excess of £1m. The bid was rejected immediately by Chairman Peter Ridsdale who maintains that Cardiff are no longer under financial pressure to sell and will only release players for large sums.

It is good news for The Bluebirds that other clubs are interested, and even better that some of our top players are staying. Jones and Ridsdale want the fans to believe that Cardiff City are building for the future and players like Joe Ledley are key to that.

So what exactly is a large sum then, Mr Ridsdale?

“every player has his price” – and fair enough too. Thats £5.5m for Chopra, £5.50p for Jason Byrne!
