Cardiff out-powered (fan reaction)

It was poor, poor, poor again for Cardiff City and the players were certainly not ‘playing for pride’ as the cliche goes.

Instead of effort and determination, frustration ruled and Cardiff City came up short yet again.

Kerrea Gilbert was withdrawn after 2 bad fouls in succession, while a poor lunge tackle from Joe Ledley almost brought a straight red from the referee.

Add to that Michael Chopra’s putulent outburst after the final whistle, in which he was sent off, and it looks unproffessional at best. Kicking bottles and refusing to shake an opponent hand, Chopra came across badly and needs to curb his temper-tantrums having picked up numerous bookings for dissent over the season.

The introduction of Paul Parry inspired Cardiff, and they showed more attacking threat. The winger added something to the attack, whereas Willo Flood was unable to contribute up to that point and fans could be forgiven for not realising that former Aston Villa midfielder Peter Whittingham was playing.

Thats 1 point from 18 on offer, bottom-of-the-league form and no wonder Cardiff couldnt sustain a promotion bid. It’s worrying, and its the midfield that seems to be the problem. The attack is toothless but has little service. As against Stoke, Joe Ledley looked comfortable and good on the ball, but McPhail and Whittingham were passengers as the game passed them by.

When things go the Bluebirds’ way, they can be irresistable. But a dip in form and confidence and they cant hut a cow’s proverbial with a banjo.

Not one but two central midfielders are needed in the close season, a new striker and full back will also be a priority.

Please let the season end now…
