Cardiff City have reportedly offered a contract to veteran defender Chris Perry.

The former Wimbledon, Tottenham Hotspur, Charlton Athletic and West Bromwich Albion defender has been released by the Baggies after falling out with his manager Tony Mowbray.

At 34, Perry is an experienced veteran and could play a role similar to Kevin Campbell in offering advice to others as well as mentoring the young talent at Ninian Park.

He is unlikely to make the first team with Loovens, Johnson and Purse at the club although Darren Purse has still not signed a new deal aat the club despite agreeing terms some time ago. Interest in Purse may remain from Wigan Athletic although Purse ahs maintained a desire to stay with the Bluebirds.

Any offer for Perry faces competition from Colchester United and Luton Town, both closer to Perry’s preferred location in London.
