Cardiff City midfielder Riccy Scimeca has suffered ANOTHER recurrence of his troublesome groin injury. The experienced player has been sent to a specialist but is facing an operation which could see his sidelined until the new year.

It’s another blow for the player who has been close to full fitness on several occasions before aggrevating the injury – the problem dates back to the latter period of last season and Scimeca has played no first team football since.

He is an influential player for us, and has an important role in the side. His absence leaves us with Joe Ledley and the youngsters Darcy Blake and Aaron Ramsey to cover the central midfield area.

The former Nottingham Forest and West Brom man is 32 and has been out for some time. Hopefully he can return and be the enforcer he has been in recent seasons adding an intelligent but tough edge in midfield as well as the added aerial prowess over Rae and McPhail.
