Cardiff Man: ‘Good Time’ at Bulls

Cardiff City play league two side Hereford United in the FA Cup this weekend meaning an emotional return to Edgar Street to one of The Bluebirds’ most impressive performers of the season to date.


Paul Parry was brought from the then Conference side Hereford by previous manager Lennie Lawrence. Parry added balance and pace to an underperforming squad where Gareth Whalley was having to play in an unfamiliar wide role.


The price was £75000, which, several years and a promotion on looks a fine piece of business. Close to a million was spent on Andy Campbell, now plying his trade with Halifax – whereas Parry has found a new lease of life in the last season and a half and seriously impressed on both flanks, and more recently in a support strikers role.


Parry spoke fondly of his time with the Bulls to Worcester News:


“I have some great memories of my time there. I spent seven years there, albeit in the Conference, but it was a good time for me.”

“They have a good cup tradition but hopefully we won`t be another name to add to their list.”



Parry also paid tribute to his former mananager Graham Turner, still the Bulls’ boss:


“He gave me my chance so I owe a lot to him. He used to keep telling me that my big chance would come.”


“I haven’t spoken to him for a couple of seasons but I think it must be nice for him to see me do well.”




The game will be a tricky one for Cardiff with Hereford doing well in the league and having beaten higher league opposition 3 times already in the competition. Parry himself is in good scoring form, bagging 2 against W.B.A., another against Sheffield United and a goal in the previous round to finish off Chasetown. You wouldn’t bet against him adding another on Sunday.
