Cardiff lose to Brum-manager comment

Cardiff manager Dave Jones was bitterly disappointed to come away with nothing after a 1-0 defeat by Birmingham City. Jones chose not to blame his players for their lack of finishing but pointed to the awful playing surface at St Andrews:

‘We outclassed, outplayed and outpowered them, and the only thing lacking was finishing.’

‘At this stage of the season it’s sometimes better to be lucky. Their goal could have been offside and we should have had a first-half penalty.’

‘It was a pudding of a pitch out there. It was a bog. I wouldn’t put my horses on it.’

Dave Jones is currently living in the Vale of Glamorgan, where the horse housing is far superior to a soggy and waterlogged football pitch!

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce believed his side had deserved the win and refused to be drawn on the subject of the playing surface:

‘They caused us problems for the first 20 minutes, but once we had scored we had two or three more good chances to kill the game off.’
