Cardiff City have completed the signing od Dutch striker Iwan Redan on loan for the rest of the season.

Redan, who is 26, joins from Dutch side Willem II and is a powerful but pacy striker in a similar mould to Dirk Kuyt or Patrick Kluivert. His strength is holding up the ball and bringing other players into the game indicating he will provide the back-up to Steve Thompson currently filling that role for the Bluebirds.

Redan is one of the clubs top assets but was involved in an altercation with a team-mate during a recent cup game amid difficulties and poor form of the team. During the incident, Redan apparently headbutted his teammate but insists that the incident was blown out of proportion.

Redan has only 2 goals to his name so far this season but is determined and optimistic regarding his chance to make it in the Championship.

Iwan joins fellow strikers Chopra, Thompson, Kevin Campbell, Luigi Glombard, Jason Byrne, Andrea Feretti and Jamal Easter on City’s books. Dave Jones has favoured using 2 strikers on the bench while City place with the big man-little man combo and it seems that Byrne and Redan will provide the back-up to Thommo/Chops up front.

Welcome Iwan and all the best, we look forward to seeing you in action
