Kent Live reports Cardiff have joined the clubs potentially looking to sign Charlton’s Ricky Holmes this summer?

It has been suggested his agent could be ‘touting the winger around Championship clubs’ amidst rumoured interest from a few clubs at this level in the former Barnet, Portsmouth and Northampton winger, including Cardiff.

Sheffield United have been credited with an interest, where he could link up with his former Northampton boss Chris Wilder once again.

Then again Sheffield Wednesday could also be in for Holmes? Which is in fact seen as something that ‘may have an element of truth’ following the Owls’ play-off defeat to Huddersfield, meaning they’ll not be in the Premier League – a level seen as being ‘too high’ for him.

Charlton are reportedly hopeful of securing him on a new contract but with just a year on his existing deal – and requesting a transfer from Northampton in the wake of helping them to the League Two title – he could be on the move for a second summer in a row after impressive performances for the Addicks in League One, in an otherwise poor season for his club, of course managed for a spell by former Cardiff boss Russell Slade – on of three jobs he held last season.

Neil Warnock does like his attacking players so if Holmes is of interest to him, at a reasonable price, a switch to the Cardiff City Stadium could appeal? But it was also suggested by Kent Live Holmes’ agent will most likely be swayed by the club offering the best deal.
