Cardiff City are reportledly in talks with Scottish midfielder Peter Leven about a move to South Wales.

Leven, 23, is out of contract at SPL side Kilmarnock and would command a small fee in compensation rather than a transfer fee.

Leven initially struggled following a move from Rangers but did make 27 appearances last season for Killie, scoring 1 goal while he has made 53 starts for the club in all, bagging 5 goals.

Kilmarnock boss Jim Jeffries wanted the player to remain at Rugby Park:

‘We made Peter an initial offer and he turned that down so we increased it a bit. We’ve not had any reply back, so it looks as though he will be moving on.’

‘Peter has played a number of games for us this season, but you can only have so much in a budget and you have to work within that.’

‘If Peter feels he can get better elsewhere then good luck to him. That’s Peter’s prerogative as he is out of contract and is entitled to ask for what he is after.’
