This is mostly speculation at present, but Cardiff City are thought to be in talks with former Chelsea and Leeds United striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The rumours have been circulating since a proposed move to Leicester broke down for the player. He would fit Dave Jones’ mandate as a powerful striker, with a decent scoring record and one who could hold the ball up.

Ridsdale yesterday admitted, via th GTFM phone-in, that he was having dinner with a potential signing. He would not name the player, but confirmed he was a Premiership player, who had also played elsewhere in Europe. The Cardiff Chairman also knows JFH from his Leeds Utd days and once sold him for £12m.

I think this could be a good move for both player and club. He was, like Fowler, playing in the Premiership last season and needs to find a club before the window shuts. His experience would be important and he could provide something different to our attack.

A Fowler / JFH combo would scare many defences, but not with their pace!!
