Cardiff City Chairman Peter Ridsdale is hopeful that the terraces at Ninian Park can still be used next season.

Currently, the home Grange End, Most of the away section and the Popular Bank terrace at Ninian Park are standing areas but these were due to be unusable from last season.

An extension was granted to Cardiff City for continuation of the use of these areas, but the extension will need to be renewed shortly if Cardiff want to maintain the capacity at around 20,000.

Peter Ridsdale has confirmed the club are seeking an extension:

‘We are waiting to hear from the licencing authorities about our standing areas.’

‘I hope to have a decision soon on whether we can keep them for next season and maintain our current capacity.’

‘If they say yes, and we are hopeful of that, then we will be the first club to ever have a second year extension on standing areas in the Coca-Cola Championship or Premiership.’

‘I believe we will get an extension for standing but we are still awaiting news of the decision.’

To lose the license would be a big blow to the club in lose of revunue from greatly reduced attendances. The new stadium is now unconditional with work already having started meaning that temporary seats / stands at Ninian Park would be unnecessary and costly.

My WBA mate reckoned it was best away day of season, because of the standing area. Should be designated areas in every UK ground
