A recent poll on this Vital Cardiff City website invited readers and members to vote as to which of the following fringe players they would like to see stay on at Ninian Park, after the well-documented ‘summer clear-out’ planned by Dave Jones.

None Of Them (36%)
Willo Flood (26%)
Malvin Kamara (14%)
Chris Barker (11%)
Jason Byrne (8%)
Jeff Whitley (5%)

It seems the fans are behind Dave Jones in his plans, and although midfielder Willo Flood was the most popular figure to stay. The likes of Jason Byrne, a new signing at the club, has a lot of work to do to convince the fans.

Flood picked up a quarter of the votes, but has been largely dissappointing since a move from Man City. He has been unable to secure a regular starting place and is yet to find a clear role in the team.

Jeff Whitley polled the lowest vote, despite being a tough tackling midfielder, a position we have been desperately lacking since Scimeca’s injury problems.

Malvin Kamara picked up a decent percentage of votes, the big midfielder is still officially a Cardiff player but his contract expires soon (he is on-loan at Port Vale currently) and he looks set to find another club in the summer.

Chris Barker will be wanted by so many clubs, if we get no money for him – its a travesty. We shelled out on far worse players.
