Cardiff Fans ‘NO’ to Penalty Plans

Cardiff City fans have voted in record numbers on the Vital Cardiff homepage in response to plans due to be discussed with regards changes to the current format of league football.

The controversial plans met with opposition from many quarters including Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale who blasted the notion as a ‘nonsense idea’.

It seems Cardiff City fans are behind their chairman with the massive majority of 68% voting strongly against while 22% were also not keen on the idea and just 6% in favour of the proposal.

The ideas to be discussed involved the addition of a penalty shoot-out at the end of drawn games with a further 1 point on offer to the winners. Another possibility due to be discussed was the introduction of an 8 second timespace for which a player to score, unopposed (save for the goalkeeper) from the half-way line.

The plans are highly unlikely to proceed and with the negative public feeling so far, will almost cetainly be shelved. They have certainly not impressed the Cardiff City fans.

Cardiff meanwhile may not need to worry, should they achieve promotion to the Premiership where the new rules would not apply.
