Cardiff Fans- Keeper The Faith?

Cardiff City started the season with an unproven, young goalkeeper between the posts. Ross Turnbull failed to impress and lost his place a fter a series on inconsistent performances.

Michael Oakes has replaced Turnbull, now re-called to Middlesborough FC, but the former Wolves stopper, although steady, has yet to assert himself and dominate.

We asked Cardiff fans their choice for goalkeeper and the poss results revealed a clear need to bring someone in as cover.

Oakes 34%
Forde 6%
Loan player – ANYONE will do! 56%

We have not replaced Neil Alexander, a proven goalkeeper with good pedigree. He had his critics but was performing well and established himslef firmly as our number 1 – a quality we have not seen from any of Alex’s successors.

Thomas Sorensen was a possible target over the summer and has slipped down the pecking order at Aston Villa – he could fit the bill. In any case, we need someone with good credentials and a proven trackrecord – someone to rely on and have confidence in.

But have all the likely candidates already been snapped up? Should we have acted sooner?
