Cardiff City reserve team captain and centre back Michael Corcoran has joined Oxford United on loan. Currently on loan at Oxford is fellow CCFC youngster Greg Coombes who made his debut in a televised game against Rushden and Diamonds on Monday evening.

Coombes played the first 70 minutes and showed some neat touches to suggest he may have a future with Cardiff City.

Michael Corcoran is another with lots of potential but his departure now, with Darren Purse injured, suggests that he is not ready for Championship football and will look to gain valuable first team football in the Conference with Oxford.

The defender, 19, has also been called up into the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad to face Wales next Tuesday where he may come up against clubmates Gunter, Jacobson and Darcy Blake.
